WWKIP success!

Thanks to everyone who came out for our stitching in public event! We had 27 snuggles donated, and raised over $250, which was split evenly between WHS, WARL, and Main Street Takoma. Photos have been posted on Flickr, here are a few of my favorites:

1 week and counting...

Okay, so it's technically 9 days until the event...

I've just returned from California (a mixture of business and pleasure), and we've lined up some more great donations for raffle prizes!

Nature's Variety and Stella and Chewy's are each donating a basket filled with nutritious and tasty food and treats for our four-footed friends.

There is metered parking on the street, and there will be limited street parking in the nearby neighborhood as well. Please be considerate of residents if you do park on a residential street.

Any questions about the event may be left as a comment here -- we look forward to seeing you next week!

WWKIP update!

I know, I've been lax about updating, spring is a time for new beginnings, right? My life seems to be full of them...

We have had some extremely generous donations from:

Peaches & Creme
Brown Sheep Company
Interweave Press

and others for door prizes!

I will be double-checking with Elizabeth from Now & Then, but the vendors I know have confirmed are:

Woolarina
Rock Creek Yarns
Wild Hare Fibers

We hope to see you at Morrison Park on June 13th, between 10am and 5pm!

Seeking Local Fiber Artists

We had our second planning meeting last night, and decided it would be wonderful to have local fiber artists in attendance, either to vend their handmade wares, or to give demonstrations to the public.

We are seeking 10 vendors for our event - if you are interested, please comment below, and one of the organizers will be in touch shortly to hammer out details.

If you are interested in giving a demonstration, please comment with a proposal (it can be somewhat vague at this point), including estimated time frame, as well as needed space & supplies (we might be able to help - you won't know until you ask).

I think this is going to be a fantastic event, I can't wait!

Interest in a Takoma Park Stitching group?

I've heard recently that the Silver Spring knitting group has grown so large it has split into two subgroups, each meeting on a different night.

When we held our first planning meeting for our June WWKIP event, (P-chan on Ravelry) brought up the idea of starting a knitting group in Takoma Park. I suggested we keep it as a generic "stitching," since I crochet far more than I knit.

Is there an interest from the community? Do you have any suggestions where we might meet?
